1.3 Submittals

.1 Submit samples in accordance with Section [      ] - [      ].

.2 Submit duplicate sample pieces of paver risers.

.3 Submit Material Safety Data Sheets for installation adhesives.

•  DELIVERY STORAGE AND HANDLING

.1 Deliver materials undamaged with manufacturer's labels intact.

.2 Store paving riser materials in a protected area on site a minimum of 24 hours prior to installation.

.3 Store paving riser materials flat, blocked off floor.

.4 Prevent damage or contamination to paving riser materials from water, moisture, freezing, excessive heat, direct sunlight and construction dust or dirt.

.5 Protect paving riser materials from construction activities. Provide tarpaulins or plastic coverings blocked to allow ventilation and prevent contamination from dust or debris.

.6 Remove only in quantities required for same day use.

.7 Avoid prolonged exposure of light and heat sensitive materials to sunlight.

.8 Store combustible materials away from heat and open flame.

.9 Do not leave roofing material unsecured at the job site where they may be dislodged by wind.

1.5 PROJECT CONDITIONS

.1 Install paving risers when environmental conditions are within limits prescribed by the manufacturer.

.2 Ensure work by related trades is complete before beginning installation.

•  ACCESSORIES

Spec Note: Select appropriate adhesive recommended by roofing membrane manufacturer.

.1 Adhesive:

      .1 Synthetic EPDM or PVC roof adhesive.

.2 Cutback Asphalt Plastic Cement.

 

3 Execution

•  SITE VERIFICATION OF CONDITIONS

.1 Examine [roof] [deck] areas to be covered and report any deficiencies to the Contractor. Do not proceed with installation until substrates and conditions comply with manufacturer's requirements for installation.

.2 Ensure roofing substrate is clean and dry.

.3 Co-ordinate paving riser installation with indicated plans.

•  APPLICATION: PAVING RISERS

.1 Ensure roof membrane and flashing installation is complete before beginning installation of roof pavers and paving risers.

.2 Snap two perpendicular chalklines on the surface to receive the pavers and paving risers. Use the lines as a reference and to assure a square layout.

.3 Layout paving risers centred on roof paver grid in field and flush to edge of roof pavers at perimeter or to indicated detail.

.4 Shim paving risers level by adding additional thicknesses of paving risers where roof membrane slopes and roof pavers are to be level.

.5 Adhere paving risers to roof membrane with adhesive compatible to roof membrane and paving risers if specified.

3.3 PROTECTION

.1 Protect paving riser installation until final set of adhesive.

.2 Prohibit traffic on floor for 48 hours after installation.
