Environmental Stewardship

North West Rubber has been recycling rubber since the 1960’s…back when the connotations of the word “recycling” were anything but positive. Consumers didn’t want something “recycled”, they wanted something new! Times have changed, and today the concept of “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Recover” is commonplace, and something that is expected from every individual and organization.

Since our inception in 1968, North West Rubber has recycled approximately 600 million pounds of scrap tire rubber into useful, eco-friendly products. That is 600 million pounds of rubber that would have ended up in landfills or incinerators – enough rubber to fill 250 Olympic-size swimming pools!

Every year in North America there are approximately 360 million scrap tires generated. Unfortunately, the majority of these tires are still discarded in ways that are unhealthy for the environment – either being incinerated or discarded in landfills. For a number of reasons, this poses a significant risk to our environment.

For over 40 years, North West Rubber has partnered with governments, industry stewardship groups, and other environmentally conscious organizations around North America to reduce the number of scrap tires that are landfilled or incinerated.

True Environmental Responsibility – it’s what we stood for when recycling wasn’t looked at
favorably, and it’s what we will continue to stand for in the years to come.

Thanks for partnering with us in an effort to create a greener, healthier, sustainable  environment!
