1.3 SUBMITTALS

delivery, storage and handling
.1 Deliver flooring materials undamaged with manufacturer's labels
intact.

ACCESSORIES
.1 Bevelled Edging: Black rubber transition ramp edging as available
from flooring manufacturer.
.2 Floor Filler: Cement based leveling compound. Acceptable product,
Mapei Planipatch, Planipatch-Plus or acceptable substitution.
.3 Adhesive: Single component or 2-part, SportFLOOR Adhesive,
a solvent free urethane adhesive as recommended by manufacturer
for dry conditions.
.4 Initial Cleaner (if required): Alkaline floor finish stripper
diluted 10:1 with clean water. Recommended product, Buckeye-Revelation
# 5032.
.5 Sealer (if required):

3 EXECUTION
SITE VERIFICATION OF CONDITIONS
.1 Examine floor areas to be covered and report any deficiencies
to the Contractor. Do not proceed with installation until substrates
and conditions comply with manufacturer's requirements for installation.
.2 Ensure floor substrate is clean and dry by using test methods
recommended by flooring manufacturer.
.3 Ensure building area and materials for flooring application
is maintained at minimum 15 degrees C, maximum 30 degrees C and
at maximum 65 % relative humidity for minimum 48 hours before installation,
during installation and for minimum 72 hours after completion of
work.
.4 Provide ventilation to installation area during installation
and for minimum 72 hours after completion of work.
Spec Note: Select appropriate substrate preparation
3.2 WOOD FLOOR PREPARATION
.1 Ensure wood subfloor material is CDX exterior plywood installed
smooth side up.
.2 Caulk all nail, staple or screw fasteners and seal with epoxy
sealant.
.3 Acclimatize subfloor for minimum 48 hours before installation
of flooring tile.
.4 Ensure subfloor is clean, dry and free of dust, dirt and any
contaminants and previous floor finishes.
.5 Patch cracks, holes and rough or uneven areas with manufacturer's
recommended cement based leveling compound.
CONCRETE FLOOR PREPARATION
.1 Ensure subfloor is smooth and level to a tolerance of 3 mm
in 1.8 m.
.2 Ensure concrete floors have cured for minimum 6 weeks.
.3 Perform moisture test recommended by flooring manufacturer
on concrete floor.
.a Poly File Test: Tape a sheet of plastic over a section of the
concrete floor. Wait for 72 hours. Check for moisture droplets
under the plastic sheet.
.b Calcium Chloride Test: Perform quantitative test, maximum 1.36
kg moisture emissions per 24 hours per 93 m2.
.4 Seal new concrete floors.
.5 Ensure existing concrete floors are clean, dry and smooth.
.6 Remove any wax, paint, varnish, adhesive or any other material
that would prevent proper bonding of adhesive.
.7 Repair any low spots with a cementitous based latex patch mix.
.8 Seal concrete that is rough or porous.
APPLICATION: FLOORING
.1 Ensure back of rubber flooring has been sanded to remove mold
release. (if required).
.2 Apply adhesive uniformly using recommended trowel and application
rate. Ensure a minimum 85% transfer from the floor to backing of
flooring.
.3 Do not spread more adhesive than can be covered by flooring
before initial set takes place.
.4 Lay flooring in a point to point installation with [colour
swirls orientated in the same direction] [with colour swirls orientated
in alternating directions]. Lay out to produce a minimum number
of seams. Border widths minimum 1/3 width of full material.
.5 Adjoin factory edge to factory edge of tiles. Install cut edge
of tiles along walls or vertical surfaces.
.6 Ensure joints are tight. Eliminate joints opening up between
tiles by taping tile corners together with masking tape.
.7 Lay tiles in small sections and roll with a 45 kg sectional
roller within 15 minutes of laying to ensure proper adhesive contact.
.8 Cut tiles neatly around fixed objects, and to fit irregular
and fill-in spaces using a sharp utility knife. Make repeated passes
when cutting to ensure straight cuts.
.9 Continue flooring through areas to receive movable type partitions
without interrupting floor pattern.
.10 Terminate flooring at centreline of door in openings where
adjacent floor finish or colour is dissimilar.
.11 Install beveled transition edge strips at unprotected or exposed
edges where flooring terminates.
.12 Promptly clean adhesive from top surface of tiles using a
soft cloth soaked in denatured alcohol.
.13 Prevent traffic on flooring for minimum 24 hours after installation.
3.5 CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
.1 Initial Cleaning:
.1 Wait 48 hours after installation before proceeding with cleaning.
.2 Sweep tiles to remove all loose dirt and debris.
.3 Ensure petroleum based cleaners are not used.
.4 If required to remove mold release:
Work in small areas of floor at a time
Apply a recommended floor finish stripper diluted
with water using a mop. Leave mix on floor for 5 to 7 minutes.
Scrub wet floor using a rotary buffing machine equipped
with a medium ‘Scotch Brite' pad.
Remove wet residue using a wet-dry vacuum
Mop rinse floor with clean water and repeat removal
and drying method.
Repeat cleaning operations as required to remove
any remaining mold release or sediment.
Prohibit foot traffic on flooring until area is dry.
.2 Floor Finishing (if required): Complete id required in
project
.1 Install sealer by flooring manufacturer according to instructions
and application rate recommended by manufacturer.
.3 Regular Cleaning:
.1 Clean flooring on a regular basis using a PH neutral cleaner.
3.6 PROTECTION
.1 Protect new floors from [time of final set of adhesive] [after
initial sealing] until final inspection.
.2 Prohibit traffic on floor for 24 hours after installation.
.3 Provide ventilation to installation area during installation
and for minimum 72 hours after completion of work.
.4 Do not wash flooring for minimum 14 days after completion of
installation.
